The 335is, as others have said, has the twin-turbo (each small turbo driven by 3 cylinders). The 335i (for 2011 forward) has a single, larger turbo (but with twin scrolls IIRC). The newer N54 has some tweaks to the ECU program so that it makes more HP & torque than previous years when it was in the 335i.

As far as i know, the 335is is pretty much a facelift e92 335i but with the non facelift n54 twin turbo engine. The major upgrades over a 335i are a better air intake system, a bmw performance exhaust, and the dual clutch transmission from the m3 (unless you get a manual). It also has other minor options that you cant get on the 335i like the.
