Griffith Island is an island in Georgian Bay, in the province of Ontario, Canada. It is one of three islands in Colpoys Bay, and sits to the north east of Wiarton and north of Owen Sound. The other two islands in Colpoy's Bay are White Cloud Island and Hay Island.

Griffiths Island is located 3h 30 mins drive from Melbourne city, in the charming fishing village of Port Fairy. This tiny island is only accessible by foot through a short causeway to the mainland and it's an amazing little sanctuary; great for spotting native birds and wallabies.

The Island Street Boatyard was a dream of Tim Belstadt, a retired Wilson Greatbatch executive and resident of North Tonawanda. The plan was to turn five acres of property along River Road in North Tonawanda into a turn-of-the-century style complex.

Griffiths Island Lighthouse was built in 1859 as a navigation aid at a time when Port Fairy was becoming an important trading port for western Victoria. Extensive harbour works undertaken then and subsequently, mainly to improve the navigability of the Moyne River and its approaches, have affected the shape and boundaries of the island.

On December 27, 1858, Griffith Island Lighthouse became the third of the six Imperial Towers to be formally placed in operation, exhibiting a fixed white light from a third-order Fresnel lens at a focal plane of 130 feet above the bay.

Griffith Island precinct offered us a great trail one going up to the end of the pier and another turning off somewhere halfway and extending to the light house. We did both the trails with real fun seeing interesting bird species on the way. Views of the ocean from the pier and lighthouse precinct were both attractive.
