Introduction Bugbears are all about offense. They're an ideal ambush predator with Stealth proficiency for free, and their Surprise Attack feature which provides 2d6 extra damage if you can surprise an enemy.

Once I played bugbear Polearm Master/Sentinel/Tunnel fighter. That was goddamn awesome and real funny.. First time this character join goup when master set on us swarm of enemies. And so I hit everyone of them. I struck 19 attacks not even in my turn, lol Dm was WHAAAAAAAT

• 7 yr. ago BradleyHCobb Bugbear Tunnel Fighter with Polearm Master and Sentinel Rules I had a player approach me with this character concept, and I'm not entirely sure how the rules play out here. He describes it as "situationally powerful, but not op." I don't know if he's downplaying it to get the thumbs-up or if I'm missing something.

Polearm master totally wasted .. oh you where in the same county, no opportunity attack for you. Reply reply. Here is a build of a bugbear with a halberd; no fancy multiclassing, just pure barbarian. The halberd+bugbear+lvl 14 (and raging), gives a total reach of 25'.

Reach weapons are useful for hit and run. You get up to 10ft. of an enemy, hit him, and then retreat, provoking no AoO yourself because you were not in its 5ft. reach (most monsters range is 5ft., though not all). You also get to cover a larger area than other people, meaning more monsters are in danger of you.

9 vegan_cookies5 • 3 yr. ago I would actually go bugbear, since they start with an additional 5 foot reach, so 15ft reach on top of your 10x10 space. I would start with 17 strength and pick up PAM at 4 and max out strength by 8 and GWM or sentinel at the next asi.
