Use the correct engine oil. I always recommend Castrol 10w-60 full synthetic. Liquimoly 10w60 is fine as well. BMW recommended 5w30 from factory on 2001+ cars, but this is purely because it was easier for consumers to source (who were clomping about the difficulty of procuring 10w60 oil 20 some years ago.)
