58 comments NaitDawg • '84 944 • 1 yr. ago Not a good drift car. Most transaxles not limited slip and they tend to shatter from drifting anyway. Cant take the power/abuse.. and there isn't much to spin wheels on an NA anyway. Reliability is the opposite of this, they leak like incontinent toddlers, and will find new and exciting ways to blow.

im surprised no one has built a porsche 944 drift car yet. they can be bought quite cheaply now, and parts are plentiful and cheap due to lots of cars being broken up now.. remember this is a porsche 944 turbo (the most desirable of all the 944s), these are rare classics and good cars are strong money. a lot of cars need extensive welding.

05-30-2004, 10:21 PM. A 944 is a great drift car. Good balence, 4cyl rwd, plus you get to say you drive a Porsche. Basically a german silvia Qs if you ask me. In european car magazine, they have an interisting build up of a 944 you may want to check out. Good luck.

How is the 944 as a beater/beginner drift car? I was searching through autotrader for RWD manual cars <$10,000 and a few 944s have been popping up. It wouldn't be a daily so while reliability isn't my major concern, I do want to keep the budget as low as possible which includes necessary repairs.
