I could barely fit the 5.10 Dunlop 606 on my KLR. I suggest you go over to KLR650.net where you will get more opinions than you could possibly need.

As far as DOT, it means the tire is designed (and passed tests) to operate at higher speeds for long periods of time. All the Dual Sport tires will be DOT rated.
