Re: Pontiac 670 heads. Reply #1 on: March 20, 2012, 11:51:07 PM ». 670 heads are 1967 GTO only heads and are good heads. they were fetching about a grand 5 or so years ago but you can find them now for 6-8 depending on condition. On a stock 72 or so 350 you would have about 9.6:1. Thats too much.

After reading the info you guys helped me out with (Exhaust Dilemma) Mitch made a statement concerning my heads needing to match cc's to avoid having to change my pistons. My 7H1 Heads are 80cc's, The 670's 67/72cc's.

For 1967 Pontiac increased the valve size of the high output engines. Increasing the intake valves from 1.92" to 2.11" and the exhaust valves from 1.66 to 1.77". They also changed the valve angle from 17 to 14 degrees. This improved port flow and overall performance. In 1968 Pontiac heads changed from a closed chamber to an open chamber design.

#1 · Jan 16, 2015 I am looking into options for rebuilding my original engine for my 67' GTO. My goal is to make 400-450hp. I was planning on keeping the bottom end stock minus .030 cast pistons. Right now all I have done is added headers, msd ignition, and a 675 quick fuel carb.
